Basketball Rules

Teams
4 vs 4 Halfcourt.
All players must be 18 years or older to play.
Minimum of 1 female on the court at all times.
Maximum of 8 players per roster, with a minimum of 2 females.
Team must bring their own basketball to the game.

TEAM SIZE
Each team can have Four players on the court at one time. Co-ed teams can have up to 4 women on the court, but must have at least 1 on the court at all times.
Teams are unable to begin a game with less than 3 players, and co-ed teams must have 1 female to begin the game.
Teams must start at game time if the minimum number of players are present.
No additional players will be added to the roster after the teams’ 3rd game.

UNIFORMS/FOOTWEAR
If players don’t have a team jersey, we requires that you wear similar colors to the rest of your team.

IMPORTANT: If teams do NOT have the correct color shirts, their opponent will receive technical free throws before the game. The amount of free throws will be the difference in non-color shirts between the two teams.

Standings
For each win a team will receive 2 points.
a tie is worth 1 point.
a loss is worth 0 points.

Game Time
3 separate games played against the same opponent per day.
Each game will play to 15 points or 20 minutes. Whichever is faster.
1 hour maximum court time.
Discretionary 30-second shot clock rule is in effect.
There will be no overtime period during the regular season.

Stalling goes against the fun principles of the game. An “unwritten 30-second shot clock” is in effect at all times, and may be enforced by the referee at their sole discretion. Failure to attempt a shot in 30 seconds, after being advised by the referee, will result in loss of possession. In addition, neither team can stall in the last five seconds of a game in a ballcheck situation, or the last 15 seconds of a game in a free-throw situation. If stalling occurs, the clock will be stopped until it is started by an in-bounds pass.

Time outs/Player Substitutions
2 timeouts per team each game.
Timeout will last for 30 seconds, unless there is an injury.
Timeouts will stop the game clock at any point of the game.
Player substitution is permitted in any dead ball situation.

Coin Toss
At the beginning of the first game visiting team will call for possesion.
Winning team is awarded posession for each game thereafter.

Change of possesion
Each team must check the ball by passing or dribbling past the 3 point line.
A Jump ball will be awarded to the defensive team.
After each basket the team that scores will give up possession (losers out) The ball must be checked at the top of the key to resume play.
You must take the ball back to the marked 3-point line or to the top of the key on every change of possession, clearing the line with both feet (even on air balls and steals).

Points
All baskets are worth 1 point.

Fouls
1 Foul shot will be awarded to the player if they were in the act of shooting.
All other basketball rules like traveling, carrying apply, and will be called by the referee.
Fouls will be called by a referee.
Fouling a player will not stop the clock at any point during the game.
A player can not foul out of the game. However if the referee feels that a player was flagrantly fouled for any reason, the offending player will be ejected, and the other team will be awarded a free foul shot.
Bad mouthing/trash talking other players or the referees will not be tolerated, and will lead to an ejection and a technical foul shot for the other team.

Dunking
Dunking or hanging on the rim is not allowed under any circumstances, and will result in a penalty foul shot for the other team, and an ejection from the game.

Referee Fees
Will be $10 each game played = $30


Out of Bounds
Areas will be discussed with each team before the start of play.
